About Us

The Interfraternity Council (IFC) serves as the governing body of the seven men's social fraternities at Kennesaw State University. For more than 150 years, fraternities have excelled in academics, leadership, athletics, and service. Here at KSU, our IFC community has perpetuated that legacy through emphasizing scholastic achievement, leadership development, service to the community, and brotherhood. We are committed to supporting undergraduate men in their personal development, producing successful leaders, and sustaining meaningful relationships during undergraduate years and as alumni of the University.

The IFC provides enriching programming for all community members whether they are a new member or a graduating senior. Along with supporting members of IFC, we often collaborate with other governing councils and student organizations on campus.

  • Structured Recruitment Schedule

    IFC Recruitment has shifted to a "Year-Round Recruitment" model. Dates of planned events are below. All individuals looking to join an IFC organization they must register for recruitment.
    Registration is $30.00.

    The Interfraternity Council organizes structured recruitment at the beginning of each Fall and Spring semester. This process provides an opportunity for men interested in joining a fraternity to meet and learn about each chapter. 

    ***No alcohol, women, or tobacco will be permitted at IFC chapter recruitment events.

    Year-Round Recruitment

    Outside of IFC Structured Recruitment, organizations may host recruitment events throughout the year. This is referred to as Continuous Open Bidding or COB. Chapters may extend bids/invitations of membership at any time during the academic calendar. The same membership requirements and policies apply. 

    Recruitment Tips

    1. Do your research! This is a big decision and you need to be sure to make the best decision for you.
    2. Ask questions! Be sure you know about any financial obligations, time commitments, academic success, and the fraternity's involvement on campus. While the fraternities want to get to know you, you need to get to know the fraternity too.
    3. Use your best judgment. Do not miss out on an opportunity because of peer pressure or stereotypes. Make your own decisions!

Frequently Asked Questions

  • IFC recruitment takes place every semester. In the fall the council hosts a formal recruitment process, and in the spring, they hold an informal process. For more information please email ksu.ifc.vprecruitment@gmail.com.
  • IFC Formal recruitment will be August 23-30th of the Fall 2024 semester.  
    The schedule is below: 
    August 23th – Orientation & Chapter Values  
    August 24-25th – Off Campus Events  
    August 26-27th – On Campus Events  
    August 28th – Off Campus Invitation Only Event  
    August 29th – On Campus Interviews  
    August 30th – Bid Day  
  • Registration for recruitment is held through Campus Director which links to access can be found on the IFC Instagram page and the Department of Fraternity and Sorority Life page of the Kennesaw State website. 
  • A Bid is an invitation extended by chapters to those whom they wish to have join their chapter. 

  • Continuous Open Bidding (COB) means that there is not a set date by which a chapter must extend a Bid. A chapter may extend a Bid to you at any time so long as they can get you through their new member education process and initiate you by the deadline.

    IFC holds informal recruitment every spring semester. Many of our organizations will host different events that PNMs can attend before extending/accepting a bid.  

  • If you do not receive a Bid from the chapter you were hoping to join, do not panic. There is always the next semester’s recruitment, and if you received any other Bids you may accept those.
  • Choosing which Bid to accept can be difficult, but it is important to reflect on your interactions with each chapter during their events and base your decision off of those. Who did you get along with best? Who did you feel the most comfortable with? Who did you feel at home with? These are all important questions to ask yourself.
  • If you accept a Bid and then wish to change to accept a different organization’s bid you must contact the IFC advisor (mlaforge@kennesaw.edu). Once you have accepted a Bid you are not able to accept another Bid until the following academic semester.
  • If you do not receive a Bid, do not worry. Organizations are able to extend bids though the COB process, or you are able to wait until the next recruitment.  
  • After you accept a bid the IFC Executive Board will let you know the next steps for Bid Day. Many chapters also hold pinning ceremonies that they will reach out and tell you about the information for.
  • No, you should never feel pressured to accept a Bid, even if you got the Bid that you hoped for. You can choose to not accept any of the Bids, or if you accept and do not wish to continue, speak to the chapter or the Department of Fraternity and Sorority Life.
  • Recruitment updates are mainly posted on the IFC Instagram page and the individual Instagram pages of each chapter. Each chapter will be posting their events and updates on their social media pages. You can also email ksu.ifc.vprecruitment@gmail.com if you have any questions. 
  • In order to be eligible for recruitment, you must be currently enrolled at Kennesaw State. You must meet the minimum GPA requirement of a 2.5 GPA, this goes for high school, transfer, and KSU adjusted GPAs; whichever is applicable to you. You must also have registered for recruitment through Campus Director and paid the $30 recruitment fee.
  • Yes, the KSU IFC Executive Board will hold different events throughout the semester, as well as before recruitment starts for you to meet all of the chapters.  
    The first night of recruitment is also Chapter Values where you will go around to all the chapter rooms to learn about each organization.  
  • Within the restrictions of your academic schedule, try to attend as many events for as many chapters as possible. The more interaction you have with each chapter the better. When you are attending events, push yourself to get to know as many members as you can from each chapter. These relationships started through your recruitment journey may result in life long friends and help grow a stronger community.
